Belton – Day One

Bill LevettTrucking home from a wet day at Belton, however a very satisfying one. Today I just had two of my big boys, Alex and Womble, doing their dressage tests for the CIC3*. Both of them scored very well, Alex did a PB and got a 42, as did Womble.

Womble continues to do his best work but for whatever reason he got tense in the arena and made two or three mistakes. His work was certainly of a quality to get a 30s mark, which has been our aim over the winter, but to do that we need a mistake free test. It’s so close to getting that now, let’s hope Badminton will be the time to do it!

Jenny came up as well with Ricky, and went really well round a very tricky novice cross country that caused loads of problems. Jenny didn’t seem to be worried about it (although I was!) and it was great to see them finish after what looked like a great ride.

Back again tomorrow bright and early with a 3am start as poor Sparkles has drawn the short straw with the first test in the OI at 8.00! Such is life. Dotty and Natty will also be out tomorrow doing another advanced, and the cross country here will be another step up from Weston, but the way they both went round that track proves they have earnt at least a chance to tackle something more difficult.

Cheers,

Bill
