Aston – A Day Out With The Babies

Bill Levett and The Mighty Tara, Aston, March 2016Travelling back home from Aston with Sunny, Tara and Dillon, and although the babies take a fair bit of riding they were all really sweet and put their best foot forward.

Sunny continues to improve and was unlucky to have a pole in the show jumping before jumping a confident clear cross country. She really felt like she had come on from her last run. Tara was a little fresh in the dressage and then jumped well in both the show jumping and went clear cross country – her day will come as she is so athletic with plenty of blood.

Dillon was having his first outing with me and jumped a super double clear which was good for his future. He is a big young horse but has a lovely attitude and bags of scope.

This event was the first event that we show jumped on the new arena surface at Aston and it just rode a little dead. I am sure in time it will be the best facility that we have as Nigel and Anne are constantly improving it.

It was nice to see Rosie having her first run on Timmy today as he hasn’t competed for a while. They did a lovely dressage but he went a little green in the jumping phases – I am sure we will be able to iron that out and get him going clear.

We had Will helping us keep the show on the road this morning with grooming, tacking up and helping on the floor. He has his horse JJ doing the novice this afternoon. It is a real shame we had to leave him there on his own as it would have been nice to return the favour and help him with his three phases. But we have a busy schedule over the next few days as tonight we arrive back, gather up our things and head to Chatsworth.

I’m looking forward to it as the kids are coming with us. I am doing four advanced and Jenny is doing a prep run for Tattersalls, doing a CIC1*. I am hoping the rain will stay away and that it’s a good weekend.
