Rockingham

Jenny Levett and Ballymore Rich Cat, Rockingham 2016Day three done and dusted at Rockingham and after the first day, which was just three dressage tests, it has been all go. Today driving home I was even tired enough to ask Emily to take over and drive for a while.

Yesterday the babies were out and although it is still hard work to get them around the cross country they are putting in 110%, really trying and I feel coming on from the experience. I actually came off Tara in the show jumping, through no fault of hers. It is nice to see the young ones still improving and learning each time we go out.

Today saw Cassie, Tonto and Ricky (being ridden by Jenny), JJ ridden by Will, doing the one star. We also had the kids on board with their ponies as they were doing the pony club show jumping team competition for the Warwickshire who they ride with.

Both kids had a great day – Urssie’s team finished 1st in the 70cm and Josh’s 3rd in the 80cm. It is great to be involved in team based activities and the Warwickshire team are a great bunch all helping one another and a great atmosphere.

Ricky and Jenny have such a good partnership now and they put in a very low dressage score to get them off to a great start. Cassie managed a nice double clear and Tonto went well until he had a run out at a skinny near the end – he spooked at it more than anything, but over the rest of the track he went well.

Jenny completed her event really well, with one rail and a great cross country so her last run before Tatts CCI1* was really good. Will had a great show jump round and a good cross country, bar one moment at the coffin which he feels is sat nav error on his part – frustrating for him.

Sparkles was doing the two star and he again jumped a lovely double clear, an ideal prep run for Tatts in a fortnight’s time.

We are back again with Womble for the advanced intermediate as he has Luhmuhlen coming up and it will be nice to get one run after our Badminton hiccup before heading to Germany. Before that I’m cross country schooling Natty early tomorrow morning to set her up for Houghton.

So far Rockingham has been a good few days so let’s hope tomorrow finishes off on a good note.

Cheers,

Bill
