Tweseldown

Driving home from Tweseldown, after a day out with Quinn, Smurf and Bert. Quinn did the NRF, Smurf was in the IN and Bert was having another intermediate run.

I haven’t been to Tweseldown for a while, and since the last time they have definitely improved the cross country courses. They have a good amount of variety and are very educational, well worth the trip – we will be back!

We always knew when the weather turned we would have the opposite situation, and the ground would begin to get too firm. This was the case at Tweseldown despite their best efforts.

Bert (pictured) did a fairly good dressage test, he just had the one rail showjumping followed by a solid cross country round. He continues to make the intermediate tracks feel quite easy! We will now find him somewhere to do a CCI2*. Smurf jumped a lovely double clear in the IN but was a bit off the pace in the dressage and will have to produce more consistent work in that phase to become competitive; nothing to worry about, he just needs more training and time, after all he’s still only 6!

This will be Quinn’s last Novice run and his dressage showjumping and cross country are feeling quite solid. He does feel like a proper event horse when he’s jumping as he gets his legs up really well but doesn’t go too high, therefore feeling nice and quick across his fences. So all in all a good day was had.

It will be nice to have a few days at home now getting the horses organised for Tattersalls and Bramham!

Cheers,

Bill
