West Wilts

Trucking back from West Wilts after a day out with the young horses. Noor had two to ride, and I had two 5-year-olds. It was nice to get them out again and for Noor to have another day developing her horses.

The  cross country course at West Wilts was fairly straight forward ie not trappy, but with enough questions. It was nice to have good ground again – when I walked the course the going underfoot felt nicely forgiving. The showjumping at West Wilts is on a surface with plenty of  room to get in to the next fence – as you can see from my explanation it is a good event for young horses.

All the talk in the lorry park between the professional riders seems to be about who made what team in this last batch of announcements for The WEG. It goes without saying there were a lot of surprised people about the British selection. Tomorrow the Aussies announce theirs… we are keeping everything crossed.

The next round of events is coming up fast: Somerford, Blair and Burghley. Both Jedi (pictured) and Spot are slowly improving but, as aways, our 5-year-olds are not over produced so are not overly competitive. It still satisfying to see them improving slowly!

Until next time, cheers
