It’s been a mixed day at Burnham Market: the good news is that Coco is still in the lead in his section after the dressage and Harry and Silks are holding their own.
The bad news is that for the first time ever I got eliminated in the dressage. Roller, who was a new ride for me, is as I’ve mentioned a highly strung horse and today she got tense in her test and downed tools. There is an FEI rule that if a horse is disobedient for more than 20 seconds you are eliminated and so sadly that’s what happened. The judge then let me go on and she then did lovely walk and canter work. Very frustrating – anyway she’s going home, which I understand but it is sad and frustrating as she’s a talented mare – such is life.
Anyway I’ve now walked both the 2 and 3 star FEI tracks and I think both the courses are educational which is great. The ground is hard given the lack of rain but they’ve done the best they can and they’ve also watered the show jump arena.
So it’s all to do tomorrow when Silks, Coco and Harry do all of their jumping phases.
Cheers,
Bill
