Aston – A Win For Silks!

Bill Levett and Silk Stone, Aston, July 2014I’m heading home from Aston after ducking all the storms. It was not as wet a day as I was expecting, and the rain last night definitely helped the going for cross country.

Alfie and Womble both had their first run after their spring three days, and it’s nice now to have a few runs to get them back in the groove of competing again.

Silks was the star of the day, winning his Advanced section and being one of the quickest across the country all day. He gave me a cracking ride in both jumping phases and feels to be really ‘on song’. I thought the Advanced track was a nice inviting course, not being overly technical, with just a couple of difficult combinations.

It was also good to see Hayley out again, with Cuppi certainly back to his bright self and Piggy was putting his best foot forward, giving Hayley a nice ride in the dressage. Unfortunately Hayley lost her stirrup leather on the cross country at about fence 7 which was a real shame.

I’m back with Dotty tomorrow doing the intermediate.

Cheers,

Bill
