Withington – A Win For Sparkles!

Bill Levett and Lassban Diamond Lift, Withington HT, May 2015I’m on the way home from Withington and it was nice that the forecast rain stayed away, it will probably come tonight. It was chestnuts on tour today, Drax, Alex and Sparkles all having an intermediate run.

Drax continues to improve slowly, today he only had one down in the showjumping and was more relaxed in his dressage, although the judge was not kind to him! Alex had a lovely double clear and it was good to just get him out and show him some cross country fences. Sparkles again was the star of the day this time winning his intermediate class by about 4 points.

The worry before we went was that the ground was going to be too firm. Although it has certainly dried out a lot, riding around the course you could still see a cut in the ground the whole way around. Sparkles continues to prove himself a very good event horse and as he is only 7, I really can’t go too fast too often so I actually had the hand break on, but a good dressage and clear show jumping still gave him the win. The nice thing is today, although I only had 5 time, I could of gone a fair bit faster.

Back tomorrow with Ziggy to do the novice and Joern will be going with Paul as part of his preparation for Houghton.

Until tomorrow, Cheers

Bill
