BAGGRAVE SUMMERTIME (Sunny)
Sunny is a 16.3hh, 12 year old chestnut gelding by Yarlands Summersong, owned by Caroline Edwards and Pam Scott. He was a new ride for me in 2011. He is a beautiful horse and one I’ve admired from across the collecting ring for several years. He has a real ‘look at me quality’, tall and elegant with good paces and engine. He has competed up to Advanced level with Caroline and has been patiently produced by her through the grades.
Sunny is a sensitive soul and during 2011 I worked hard to build a relationship with him, to build trust and confidence and make sure he knows where the boundaries are in his job – and to do the right thing when it counts, especially at skinnies cross country. It’s still early days but I’m thrilled to be riding him and really enjoying the process of establishing a partnership with him. During 2011 we did some intermediate runs to build the partnership and establishe Sunny’s CCI** qualification with the added bonus of a win at Hartpury.
During 2012 the plan is to compete at Advanced level, with the goal of a spring 3 star three day event, possibly Bramham if all goes well.
Sunny has been selected for the Eventing Futures squad for 2012 by Equestrian Australia.
