BALLYMORE RICH CAT (Ricky)
Ricky is a 16.2hh, 11 year old bay gelding by Ricardo Z. He belongs to the Prentice family and has been professionally and patiently produced by Gemma Hall.
He is an attractive horse, and has lovely paces and a cracking jump. He likes his food, and prefers his own company for sure as he can be a little cranky at times, but not in a threatening well – just a bit of a grumpy old man, like me!
2011 was all about building a partnership and taking the step up to Advanced level. Ricky answered every question, doing well at his Advanced and CIC*** runs. Ricky had an unlucky 2012, with the first half of his season impacted by the knock on effects of Badminton being cancelled and then a series of small niggles keeping him off games mid year. He came back for the autumn but things didn’t go his way at Boekelo and, despite a great dressage and going brilliantly around 80% of the track, we ended up walking home which was disappointing for all.
He’s an uncomplicated and generous horse so I’m optimistic we will have a better 2013 together, hopefully aiming for a spring CCI*** – potentially Saumur if I can ever decipher the new FEI rules.
