HIPPOLYTE (Hipp)

Bill LevettHipp is a 17 year old, 16.2hh Selle Francais chestnut gelding, owned by the Leggetts (Vera, Sarah and Rodger).

Bill has ridden Hipp on an off for several seasons as he was originally owned by Philip Adkins, who Bill occasionally rode for. In 2007 the Leggetts, long term owners with Bill, bought Hipp and they’ve now formed a strong partnership together.

Hipp is a sensitive horse but very trainable, and very gentle to have around. He is a competitor and always rises to the occasion. He is incredibly light on his feet and quick cross country as he doesn’t pull at all.

Hipp had a good 2009 season finishing 3rd at Saumur CCI*** and 3rd at the British Championships. A last minute blip (he knocked in to himself on the gallops) sadly kept him away from Burghley in 2009.

He then had an even better first half to the 2010 season, finishing 7th at Badminton, his four star debut. Sadly he sustained an unusual tendon injury at Barbury which put him out for the rest of the season and most of the 2011 season. He’s a top horse and we have taken our time and done everything possible to try and ensure he comes back fit and well for a 2012 campaign. His programme remains on track and the goal for the spring of 2012 is Badminton.

He remains on the Elite Squad for the Australian team (the squad which represents the short list for team selections), an indication of how highly they rate him.
