Gatcombe – A Win For Tommy & Then Back To Earth With A Bump!

Bill LevettToday saw Tommy finally have his win after three outings where he’s been pipped at the post for second. I was pleased he came out on top at Gatcombe and got his owner a spa weekend!

Silver was again great in the jumping and JJ went well, having an annoying 20 cross country, which was really my fault, in to the water after a lovely clear show jumping. Minty tried hard with one down in the show jumping and was pleasing cross country. It was not Timmy’s day he is very comfortable at BE100 but doesn’t enjoy novice. I had a a couple of stops and tipped off him so not the best of outings to finish the day.

The cross country course is fairly straight forward but some of the fences are placed in positions where you don’t have much time to get on to them and get your distance or secondly positioned which encourages horses to slide off past the fence, especially if they are green or naughty.

Tomorrow I’m am back for the two star with Womble and Alex and will keep you posted.

Cheers,

Bill
