Gatcombe Day One

Bill Levett, Scarlett O Tara, Gatcombe, March 2013Day one of Gatcombe is done and dusted. Dotty was still full of the joys of spring in the dressage but as the season gets going I’m sure she’ll settle. Show jumping she had two down, but gave me a lot better ride than last time out and she was doing her first intermediate show jump round so overall it is still work in progress. I think she’ll really benefit from getting out in the field and the warmer weather. She prefers to live out 24/7 – today it was really cold. Again, cross country she handled herself very well, and her next run will be the intermediate at Weston, which I think she is more than ready for.

Alfie and Silks have just done their dressage in the AI today and I’m happy with their progress. The training over the winter is certainly making things a little easier  in terms of trying to get more consistent dressage out of them. Tomorrow will see them have their first Eventing show jump and cross country runs of the year. It looks like the weather is going to hold so they will have their first canter round a cross country course on their road to Badminton.

Cheers

Bill
