Barbury – Day Two

Bill Levett and Detroit, Barbury International 2014It’s been another good day at Barbury today with the two novices, Sparkles and Gus (pictured). They both jumped nice double clears in what was an up to height novice.

I took both the young ones slowly as the ground was firm. It’s nice to see the young horses maturing a bit at Novice level. It does take them a while to get a little more confident but I enjoy the process and patience is so important at this stage in their development in terms of their long term futures. The first couple of years wih a baby horse seems to go very slowly but before you know it they’re up and running.

I also had the opportunity to walk the two star for tomorrow and again that seems like it will be difficult enough for Dotty as there will be a lot to do for her but, like the novice boys, Dotty seems to be improving so I am interested to see how she will cope with the bigger and more technical jumps she’ll be faced with tomorrow.

Womble and Alfie are coming back into work getting ready for their run at Aston, so there is plenty to do. I feel these next few weeks before WEG will fly by. We certainly won’t have any time to sit and contemplate it, that’s for sure – which is, I’m sure, a blessing in many ways!

Cheers

Bill
